Former Monroe mayor Deleal C. Yergensen died Aug. 5, 1988, at a Richfield hospital. He was 80 years old.

Yergensen served four years as mayor of Monroe, where he resided all of his life. He also served on the Monroe City Council for six years. In his early years, he was a poultryman and later owned and operated Dee's Market in Monroe and Richfield.He also owned and operated the Carol Theater in Monroe for 25 years, was an active member of the LDS Church and an avid sports and fishing fan.

Funeral services will be held Aug. 8 at 11 a.m. in the Monroe 4th Ward Chapel, 49 E. Second North. Friends may call at the Neal S. Magelby & Sons Mortuary Aug. 7 from 7-9 p.m. and at the Monroe chapel Aug. 8 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

He will be buried at the Monroe City Cemetery.
