Paramount has chucked the idea of making its sixth "Star Trek" movie a prequel to the others, with a new young cast in the leading roles. Reaction from fans was negative.
Instead, the company will do "Star Trek VI" with William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, et al. But Shatner, who directed and scripted the fifth and least successful episode, won't be bossing the sixth. And Nimoy, who directed Parts III and IV, has refused. At the moment, Nicholas Meyer, the guiding hand behind Part II, is negotiating.
