Clothing left near a space heater ignited a fire that damaged a Midvale home early Saturday morning.

The Midvale City Fire Department responded just after 5 a.m. to the fire at 76 E. Second Ave. Firefighters extinguished the fire quickly, limiting damage to a bedroom and the kitchen. No one was injured in the fire. Damage was estimated at $10,000.The start of the winter season each year brings an increase in fires related to space heaters according to Midvale Fire Chief Merrill Ross.
