A Murray police officer who was investigating a auto-pedestrian accident at about 11:50 p.m. Sunday was struck by a car.

Officer David Clawson, who has been a Murray police officer for six months, was setting up road flares at an accident scene just outside the Murray city limits on 5400 South just west of the Jordan River when he was hit by a car driven by Boyd Peterson, 56.The officer was taken to Cottonwood Hospital where he was treated for face and head lacerations before being released Monday morning, said Sgt. Scott Robinson.

Peterson was being held in the Salt Lake County Jail Monday, in lieu of $1,605 bail, for investigation of driving under the influence of alcohol in an injury accident and driving with a fraudulent vehicle registration.
