Books from aluminum.

That's the goal of this city's new Grassroots Recycling Committee. Most of the money raised from the sale of recyclable aluminum will be contributed to Snow College, Ephraim Elementary School and Ephraim Middle School, according to Connie Dyreng, committee chairman.Sanpete Valley Waste and Disposal, which will pick up the recyclable materials - aluminum, glass and plastic - will receive a minor share of the money from sale to cover its expenses, Dyreng added.

"The committee was organized," Dyreng said, "by concerned citizens in support of the landfill and the preservation of valuable resources."

Bins will be placed at the parking lot of the shopping mall on the north side of town on the third Saturday of each month to receive the recyclables, Dyreng said.
