Due to a computer glitch, voters in nine southern Idaho counties have been notified in a Republican Party mass mailing to vote at the wrong precincts.

The computer programmers for the out-of-state printer messed up, said John Hoehne, executive director of Idaho's GOP.The computer failed to sort the fliers, so voters in Twin Falls, Cassia, Minidoka, Jerome, Elmore, Franklin, Gem, Bear Lake and Payette counties were all directed to a single precinct in their counties.

Voters should disregard the brochure information and go to their regular precincts, Twin Falls County Clerk Richard Pence said.

Idaho Democratic Party Chairman Conley Ward said Democrats will not be hurt. The mailing was probably directed at Republican supporters, Ward said.

Hoehne said 100,000 fliers were mailed to a targeted audience statewide; he did not know how many were inaccurate.

The good news, Hoehne said, is the GOP has not paid the vendor and does not plan to until satisfactory corrective action is taken.
