Utah Sen. Jake Garn says NASA is being a little too cautious getting Discovery of the launch pad, but he says, "I don't think we have any other choice."

"I don't think we should call these problems foulups," Garn said. "NASA's dotting every t. Even with all the tests in the world you cannot guarantee absolute safety in space," he added. "The remarkable thing is that we flew 52 missions without a failure."

"I'd love to go up again tomorrow morning if it was a warm day, even with the old boosters," Garn said Friday.

"Space is a very beautiful but a very hostile environmnet There are great risks. Men and women willing to take that risk," he said.
