Clarence John Peterson, age 79, died November 1, 1990 at his home in West Jordan, Utah.
Born September 3, 1911 in Eureka, Utah, a son of Charles John and Stella Eveline Pearson Peterson. Married Virginia Benson, October 11, 1939 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Active member of the LDS Church, having served as bishop of the West Jordan First Ward. Graduated from Jordan High School, 1929 and worked as a park ranger in Zion's National Park, Bryce Canyon and Cedar Breaks. Was a bookkeeper for the Bureau of Reclamation in the Civilian Conservation Corps. Worked in the feed mill industry in operations and new mill construction. Enjoyed music, particularly choirs and quartet singing. Played guitar and harmonica. Suffered from Parkinsonism for 18 years.Survived by wife, West Jordan; two sons and two daughters, Merlyn John, West Jordan; Mark Arlen and wife Randy, Provo; Mrs. Robert (Mary Louise), Rumel, Salt Lake City; Mrs. David (Renae) Tanner, West Jordan; one sister, Evaline Butterfield, Midvale; eight grandchildren. Preceded in death by one brother, Karl, and one sister, Esther McMillan.
Funeral services will be held Monday, 12 noon at the Bingham Creek State Center, 8950 South 1300 West. Friends may call Sunday, 6-8 p.m. at the McDougal's West Jodan Mortuary, 1861 West 7800 South, and Monday at the church, 11-11:40 a.m. Interment, West Jordan City Cemetery.
