Pianist Nelita True will be the featured artist at the annual convention of the Utah Music Teachers Association, to be held Friday and Saturday, Nov. 9 and 10, on the campus of Utah State University in Logan.
Chairman of the piano department at the Eastman School of Music, True will present a solo recital Friday at 8 p.m. in the Kent Concert Hall of USU's Chase Fine Arts Center. Included will be music of Beethoven, Brahms, Chopin and Leslie Bassett, and the public is invited.In April 1989 True was the first American musician to be invited as a visiting professor to the Soviet Union, where she performed and presented master classes. The year before she served on the jury of the Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition.
Saturday at 2 p.m. True will conduct a master class in Room 404 of the fine arts center. Other session leaders Friday include tenor Michael Ballam, organist James Drake and pianists Gary Amano and Janet Mann.
