Pope John Paul appealed to pharmacists Saturday not to sell contraceptive pills or euthanasia drugs.

"The pharmacist cannot put profits before his conscience," he told representatives of the International Federation of Catholic Pharmacists during an audience. "Medicines should never be used against life, directly or indirectly."Catholic pharmacists should heed the teachings of the church on respect for life and the dignity of a person from the moment of his conception to his last moments."
