Former legislator Olene Walker has been named director of the state Division of Community Development by Gov. Norm Bangerter.

"Olene's years of public and community service will once again become great assets to the state as she serves in this important position," Bangerter said. Walker served in the Utah House of Representatives from 1981 to 1988. She is director of the Salt Lake Education Foundation and vice president of Country Crisp Foods.Walker replaces Alice Shearer, who is now director of the Department of Administrative Services.
