Deseret News special The Postal Service has issued two Christmas stamps, heralding the arrival of the 1990 yuletide season.

The traditional Christmas stamp, designed by Bradbury Thompson of Connecticut, incorporates a portion of Sicilian painter Antonello da Messina's "Madonna and Child" (circa 1475), which is part of the National Gallery of Art's Andrew W. Mellon Collection.The contemporary Christmas stamp, designed by Libby Thiel of Maryland, depicts a brightly decorated, cut paper Christmas tree.

The Christmas stamps will once again be available in panes of 50 (in the 300 per sheet size) and in booklets of 20.
