Former Texas Congresswoman Barbara Jordan, still hospitalized from a swimming pool accident, is eager to check out, but her doctors want her to wait until Sunday or Monday, a hospital spokeswoman says.
Jordan, 52, remained in fair and stable condition at Brackenridge Hospital, in Austin, Texas, spokeswoman Kari Larsen said last week.
Jordan nearly drowned July 30 in her backyard pool. Doctors say she suffers from a disease similar to multiple sclerosis that has confined her to a wheelchair, and she has used the pool for exercise for several years.
Jordan gained national fame during the Watergate impeachment hearings in 1974.
