Jas Obrecht, associate editor of Guitar Player magazine, has completed his research on early blues music for his book, "Early Blues: The Music Before Robert Johnson."
The magazine editor has written about such blues superstars as John Lee Hooker, Buddy Guy and B.B. King and has just published a book titled "Blues Guitar: The Men Who Made the Music."Obrecht said his current research focuses on the infant years of blues music and on its more obscure originators. The new book will contain a two-compact-disc set of blues songs in the back cover.
"It's an innovative marketing idea," Obrecht said. "The CDs will be done by Yazoo Records and I'll personally select the tracks on the discs."
Obrecht said the book will be available around Christmas 1991.
