But forecasters at the Salt Lake office of the National Weather Service say don't give up. Rain may become mixed with snow by Thursday night.By Thursday midmorning, meteorologists had issued a snow advisory for all Utah mountains through Thursday night.
Light precipitation was falling in northwestern Utah, in the Cache Valley, along the Wasatch Front and the west desert.
By Thursday at 10 a.m. an inch of snow had fallen at Brighton and 2 inches at Alta ski lifts area. The mountains could have 4 to 8 inches by Friday morning, Alder said.
Temperatures will drop to the mid 30s Thursday night and will rise to the mid-40s Friday.
