Funeral services for Clifton Nephi Ottosen, 88, former state insurance commissioner, University of Utah instructor and LDS Church worker, will be held at noon Friday in the Wasatch First Ward, 1455 E. Emerson Ave. (1485 South).
A viewing for Mr. Ottosen, who died Oct. 30, 1990, of natural causes in Salt Lake City, will be Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Sunset Lawn Mortuary, 2350 E. 1300 South. Burial will be in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.He was born in Manti, Utah, where he taught public school. He served an LDS mission to Germany, attended Snow College and studied law at the University of Utah. Upon graduation in 1930 he joined the FBI for three years.
Upon returning to Salt Lake City he opened a private law practice and for 23 years taught business law at the U. of U. Business School. He was an assistant Utah attorney general and for about 12 years was insurance commissioner.
As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he had been a Temple Square guide, a veil worker at the Salt Lake Temple and a volunteer at the Church Museum of History and Art.
