A Boeing 747 slid off the end of a flooded runway while landing Saturday, and officials said three people were injured. Passengers said up to 20 people were hurt.

People on the Pakistan Airlines jet said the injuries occurred when emergency exit chutes didn't reach the runway and passengers fell to the ground.Tariq Saeed, president of the Pakistan Federation of Chambers and Industry, was on the flight from Islamabad, the capital, to Karachi, Pakistan's largest city. "When the aircraft overshot the runway, we feared the plane might catch fire. There was panic when the cabin crew asked us to leave the aircraft through the emergency exits," he said.

Saeed said one passenger suffered fractures when he came flying out of the short emergency chute and landed on the runway.
