Dr. W. Donald Brumbaugh, our father, grandfather, brother, educator, and friend, passed away October 31, 1990 at the age of 78.

He was born February 25, 1912 Fruita, Colorado to William Theodore and Edna M. (Curry) Brumbaugh. Married Esther E. Boucher June 15, 1941; she preceded him in death in 1971.Donald obtained his BS from McPherson College in 1935. His MA from the University of Colorado in 1940, and his Doctorate of Education from the Indiana University in 1952.

In 1952, Donald and his family came to Salt Lake City where he was employed at the University of Utah as professor of Educational Administration. He worked there until his retirement in 1982.

He was appointed specialist of educational administration, U.S. Agency for International Development. In this capacity he and his family traveled to Ethiopia where he initiated an education program at Haile Selassie I University in Addis Ababa. Member UEA, NEA, active member First Baptist Church, trustee Westminster College, member Phi Delta Kappa, professor emeritus University of Utah. He loved to garden and work in his yard. During his life, he traveled to every continent except Antartica.

He is survived by his brother, Earle Brumbaugh, Fruita, Colorado; three sons, William D., Houston; Byron E. and Stuart A., both of Salt Lake City; and his daughter, Carolyn M. VanDemark, Bothel, Washington; six grandchildren; and many, many friends. Preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and a sister, Mary.

Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church, 777 South 1300 East, Salt Lake City, on Friday November 2nd, at 3 p.m. Visitation one hour prior to service. Interment, and graveside service will be held at Elmwood Cemetery in Fruita, Colorado on Monday, November 5, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society, Salt Lake Chapter, 610 East South Temple, Salt Lake City, Utah 84102.
