Four sailors aboard the USS Iwo Jima comfort each other after a memorial service for 10 shipmates who died in an engine-room accident Tuesday in the Persian Gulf. The Iwo Jima, which arrived in the gulf Sept. 16 from Norfolk, Va., was leaving Bahrain when a steam line connected to a boiler ruptured, killing six sailors instantly. Four other sailors died later. The deaths brought to 43 the number of U.S. servicemen killed during Operation Desert Shield.
