"The Polarization of U.S. Society and Its Victims, the Children" is the title of a talk to be given by Richard Ropers, a Southern Utah State College professor, at a conference on "Homeless Children and Youth in Utah."

The conference, sponsored by the Utah State Office of Education and the University of Utah Graduate School of Social Work, will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, in the Quality Inn, 154 W. 600 South. Ropers will speak at 10:30 a.m.He is the author of "The Invisible Homeless: A New Urban Ecology," published in 1988, and his new book, "Persistent Poverty," will be published next spring.
