BYU defensive back Derwin Gray and Utah State running back Roger Grant have been honored by their respective conferences.

The Western Athletic Conference on Monday named Gray as the league's defensive player of the week.Gray, a sophomore, had three interceptions that tied a school record for most in a game. He returned one of the interceptions 29 yards for a touchdown in BYU's 55-31 victory over New Mexico.

Gray also had three unassisted tackles and one assist.

The WAC's offensive award went to Air Force fullback Rodney Lewis, who gained 131 yards on nine carries while scoring two touchdowns against Utah. BYU's Andy Boyce, who caught nine passes for 235 yards and two touchdowns was one of the nominees.

For Grant, this marks the second time he has been the Big West offensive player of the week. He achieved the honor by gaining 162 yards in Utah State's 31-6 victory over UNLV. Earlier in the season he was the player of the week for gaining 292 yards against Long Beach State.
