Ngan Nguyen, a senior at Highland High School, has been named the third-place winner of a $6,000 scholarship in the national Executive Women International Scholarship Program.
The scholarship program is offered to high school students interested in pursing careers in business. Entries are judged on scholastic achievement, community activities, leadership qualities, proven dependability and response, basic communications skills and others.Ngan won the local competition sponsored by the Salt Lake City chapter of Executive Women International and received a $1,000 scholarship. She then won the district competition and a $500 scholarship, making her eligible for the national competition.
The University of Utah has presented Ngan with a year's paid tuition, and Gonzaga University said it will match the $6,000 scholarship won in the national competition. Both schools are members of Executive Women International.
