A Wyoming prison inmate escaped from a Salt Lake City hospital Tuesday night shortly after he was fitted with an artificial leg.
Two prison guards from the Wyoming State Penitentiary in Rawlings escorted Terry Cody, 18, to the Salt Lake Shriners Hospital to be fitted for an artificial leg. Following the medical procedure, the guards stepped away.Realizing he was unattended, Cody fled the hospital wearing his new leg.
Cody was wearing blue jeans, a denim jacket, a red-and-blue hat with a beer insignia and white tennis shoes.
This isn't the first time Cody has escaped. He began serving a five-year sentence last April for escape, a Wyoming prison spokeswoman said. The guards returned to Wyoming Wednesday morning, while Salt Lake police continued the search.
