W. Ivan Cendese, Highland High School principal, has been named chairman of the secondary school committee of the National Association of Secondary School Principals.

The seven-member committee works on improving learning opportunities for students and professional projects for administrators. NASSP is the nation's largest school administrator organization, with 42,000 middle and high school principals and assistant principals.Cendese has served as principal of Glendale Intermediate and Valley High schools and the Catholic Judge Memorial High School.

A 1962 graduate of the Catholic University of America, he earned a master's degree in educational administration from Utah State University in 1972 and a doctorate from the University of Utah in 1980.
