A judge facing an election next week shares his last name with an unpopular federal judge and has launched a campaign to make sure voters don't "vote against the wrong guy."

Jackson County Circuit Judge Thomas C. Clark says he is often confused with U.S. District Judge Russell G. Clark, who angered many residents by raising taxes to desegregate Kansas City's schools. The name confusion was once merely annoying, but now Thomas Clark worries that voters kicking the wrong Clark could make him the second judge ever to lose a retention election held under Missouri's 50-year-old merit appointment system.
