Flu clinics have been scheduled in Sevier County communities Wednesday and Thursday by the Central Utah Health Department.
A fee of $5 will be charged for clinics at the senior citizens centers Wednesday, Oct. 31, from 9 a.m. to noon in Richfield and Thursday, Nov. 1, from 9 to 11 a.m. in Monroe.Health officials urged residents 65 years or older to get flu shots as well as those of any age who have heart, lung or kidney problems, diabetes, severe anemia (low blood), cancer or those who use medications that lower the body's normal resistance to infection.
Flu shots should not be received by people with a severe allergy to eggs. The vaccine may contain small amounts of material from eggs in which the flu virus is grown. Dangerous reactions could occur to those who have egg allergies.
Officials said pregnant women and those who have been paralyzed with Guillain-Barr syndrome should consult a doctor about risks they might have if given flu shots.
