The Snowbird Institute for the Arts and Humanities has been awarded a $15,000 grant by the Meet the Composer/

Reader's Digest Commissioning Program, a partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.The award is one of 21 totaling $366,000 given to various organizations for the commissioning of American composers.

The institute formed a consortium with the Colorado Springs Symphony, the Tulsa Philharmonic Orchestra and the Utah Symphony, with additional funding from the Barlow Endowment, to commission a new orchestral work from Joan Tower, to be premiered by the Utah Symphony in 1992.
