The Millard County sheriff's office said Saturday that a woman whose nude body was found alongside I-15 by deer hunters was murdered.
Sheriff Ed Phillips said the decomposed remains were found Friday evening about 300 yards east of the freeway in Baker's Canyon, 22 miles south of Fillmore.Phillips said an autopsy was performed Saturday by the Utah State medical examiner in Salt Lake City, but he would not say how the woman died. He said he is investigating the case as a homicide.
The unidentified victim was described as a white female, 5 feet 6 inches tall, with a slender build and shoulder-length or longer blonde hair. Phillips said the woman is somewhere between 20 and 34 years old.
Her body was found Friday about 6:30 p.m. by two deer hunters atop a juniper-covered slope. She had not been buried, he said.
He estimated that the woman had been dead from early to mid-summer.
