Youth Developmental Enterprises will hold meetings at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, and Saturday, Nov. 10, in the basement of the Whitmore Library, 2197 E. 7000 South.
For 20 years the organization has been recruiting teenage field workers for Hawaii's pineapple companies. More than 13,000 young men have participated in the program since 1971. The meeting is to explain the program, in which youths may earn $5.58 per hour."It's the chance of a lifetime. Young men learn how to work, make new friends and develop maturity and tolerance. Well-adjusted boys grow and mature through the experience, and a boy lacking personal discipline will have the opportunity to find himself in the program," said Ross Olsen, Youth Developmental Enterprises president and founder.
