The American Fork High School Marching Band took the top trophy at the final competition of the season in Rice Stadium Saturday night.

With 938 of 1,000 points possible, American Fork outscored longtime rival Mountain Crest, from Hyrum, which scored 927 points in the Western States Regional Marching Band Competition. More than 2,000 students from 22 high school bands in five states competed.Also in the open class, the band from Skyview High School in Smithfield took third place with 811 points. In Class A, Bingham High School's band placed second and Murray High School's was third, with 748 and 725 points, respectively. The Class A winner was from Spokane, Wash.

This was the third win in a row for American Fork.
