More than 100 cars lined up for free gas Thursday, causing a major traffic jam, during a KISN radio promotion at the Sinclair gas station at 800 North and 200 East.
The radio station gave away 1,000 gallons of gas in 45 minutes.According to Gary Smith, director of engineering for KISN 97.1 FM, the promotion is one of many being held regularly with Sinclair gas stations in Weber, Davis, Salt Lake and Utah counties.
"We announce what station we're at after we arrive there," Smith said. "The first people to arrive are usually listening to us on their car radios."
After the radio team arrives at the station and hangs out the "Free Gas" signs, the place really gets packed, Smith said.
According to Smith, two women drove all the way from Magna and made it before the cutoff for the free gasoline.
