The Bingham Canyon Lions Club, in connection with Red Ribbon Week, sponsored a drug seminar for Copperton youths and their parents Tuesday night.
"It was a great success," said Lions secretary Russell Ray. "We had about 90 kids and 30 adults attend - a large number for this area."Sgt. Kevin Taylor, with the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Department, urged the kids and their parents to work toward a drug-free America - the theme of this year's activities. He also advised them on the dangers of drugs. After the seminar, each person attending was given a free T-shirt.
Ray said state Lion's members have been urged to support Red Ribbon Week, which runs Oct. 22-26. However, the Bingham club decided to go one step further and initiate their own drug awareness program. The club hopes to continue the program each year.
