Maj. Gen. Robert P. McCoy, commander of the Ogden Air Logistics center at Hill Air Force Base, was nominated this week for promotion to lieutenant general and named as new vice commander of the Air Force Logistics Command (AFLC).

In addition to receiving his third star, McCoy will be leaving Hill for the AFLC headquarters at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. No effective date for the promotion or transfer has been announced.He succeeds Lt. Gen. Charles McCausland, who was appointed commander of the Defense Logistics Agency, Washington, D.C. McCausland was the Ogden ALC commander preceding McCoy, from September 1984 through March 1987.

McCoy previously served in three top management posts at AFLC headquarters. Beginning in 1983, he served as deputy chief of staff for manpower and personnel, then as deputy chief of staff for maintenance and materiel management.

He is a 1957 graduate of the U.S. Military Academy.
