Viola Bunting Shirk, age 92; died early Thursday, October 25, 1990.
She was born April 12, 1898 at Kanab, Utah; to Robert William and Nellie Jensina Jensen Bunting. She married Harry Shirk, May 11, 1932 at Parowan, Utah; the marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, he preceded her in death on October 1951. Reared and educated in St. George, Utah; Viola moved to Cedar City in 1927, in 1956 she moved to Salt Lake then returned to St. George in 1984. She owned and operated a cafe' in Cedar City for many years. An active member of the LDS Church she served in the Primary for 25 years, visiting teacher for many years, temple worker for 5 years, and sunday school teacher for 18 years. She enjoyed fancy needlework, was a great cook and was greatly loved by many nieces and nephews.Surviving family members include one brother and two sisters, Adrian O. Bunting, Cedar City, Utah; Charlotte Heaton, Washington, Utah; Harriet Eagar, St. George, Utah.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 29, 1990 at 11 a.m. at the Metcalf Mortuary Chapel, 288 West St. George Blvd.; where friends may call 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. at the Cedar City Cemetery under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary.
