Willard H. Whitaker, 78, died October 22, 1990 in a Provo hospital.

He was born June 16, 1912 in Hatton, Utah to Herman Ellis and Marion Sagers Whitaker. Married Dathel Charlesworth June 10, 1938 in the Salt Lake Temple.He was very active in the LDS Church all his life filling many positions including Ward Clerk, Sunday School Presidency, Bishop's Counselor. He served an LDS Mission in Texas from 1936-1938. Along with his wife Dathel, he served on a mission to Des Moines, Iowa from April of 1979 to October 1980. For two years they were missionaries in the Kanosh Lamanite Branch. They also served two years as missionary tour guides at Cove Fort. He loved missionary work and was generous with financial support towards many missionaries. A farmer and dairyman. He worked as a soil conservationist for many years. Along with his son Melvin, he received recognition of Farmers of the Year. He retired as a school bus driver. He loved the outdoors whether working in the fields, with his animals, cutting posts and firewood, and hunting deer.

Survivors: wife of Kanosh; children, Melvin J., Glen Orland, Mrs Terry (Anita) Higgs, all of Kanosh; Mrs. Gail (Linda) Martin of Grantsville; Mrs. Merrill (Arlene) Lundberg of Cambridge, Idaho; Mrs. Bruce (Leah) Bunting of Kanab; James Collins of Cetreville, Virginia; Mrs. Roy (Janet) Barton of Wright, Wyoming; Ray W. of Salt Lake; John H., Michael Owen, both of Fallon, Nevada; Mrs. Larry (Christine) Fullmer of Logan; 74 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Nora Price of Kanosh; Mrs. Dennis (Erma) Sorenson, Mrs. John (Bernice) Sorenson, Charles and Kent, all of Fallon, Nevada; Max of West Valley City, Utah; Mrs. Robert (Evelyn) Frampton of Fillmore.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 27, 1990 at 11 a.m. in the Kanosh LDS Ward Chapel where friends may call two hours prior to services. Burial, Kanosh Cemetery under the direction of the Olpin Mortuary of Fillmore.
