An alert customer at the drive-up window of a local bank notified police of an armed robbery in progress Monday morning, according to Lt. Keith Teuscher.

Teuscher said three white men wearing Halloween masks brandished guns, two possibly semi-automatic, at 11:40 a.m. at First Interstate Bank, 66 E. 1650 North. The men told the teller they were holding up the bank. Two of them then went behind the teller cages, stuffed as much as $8,000 into an athletic bag and fled south on foot. The three discarded the Halloween masks and other items of clothing in a nearby Dumpster. A blue leather jacket was discarded on the Provo campus of Utah Valley Community College, one block south of the bank.

FBI agents and local police are investigating the robbery.
