Military troops armed with machine guns patrol the streets of Lahore, Pakistan, to ensure order during national elections scheduled for Wednesday. Ousted Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto was cheered by tens of thousands of supporters on Tuesday in Lahore, eclipsing the support shown for her chief opponent, Nawaz Sharif. The election gives Bhutto and her People's Party another chance at power 11 weeks after President Ghulam Ishaq Khan dismissed her 20-month-old government for alleged corruption, nepotism and abuse of power.
