Nabisco has joined other baked goods manufacturers in making fat-free versions of some popular products.

Nabisco Biscuit Co. is introducing Fat Free Premium crackers. The new crackers are made from enriched wheat flour, salt, baking soda, malted barely flour and yeast. No fat substitute is used, the company said.Its original Premium crackers include partially hydrogenated soybean oil, spokeswoman Ann Smith said. The company also makes low-salt and whole wheat versions.

The original crackers have, for a serving size of five crackers, 70 calories, 18 of them from fat, and 160 milligrams of sodium. The new ones have 50 calories, none of them from fat, and 115 milligrams of sodium.
