A TV replay of last year's San Francisco earthquake caused panic among many residents of a northern Philippine city that was ravaged by an earthquake in July.

The tension Thursday in the mountain resort city of Baguio died down only after authorities at the U.S.-run Camp John Hay explained that footage shown by the Far East Network were from the San Francisco earthquake, which occurred Oct. 18 last year.Local reporters in Baguio, about 130 miles north of Manila, said the old TV reports caused hundreds of residents to leave their homes and stay outdoors, causing heavy pedestrian and vehicular traffic. Schools and offices shut down.
