Eduvijinia `Edy' Casaus Montoya, 80, of Salt Lake City, passed away at a local care center October 19, 1990.
She was born April 27, 1910 to Juan and Anjelita Lovato Casaus in Cuba, New Mexico. She married Louis Montoya November 26, 1928. She was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother, and a great strength to her family. She loved her crafts, especially crocheting and quilting for her children and grandchildren. She was greatly loved by all who knew her and will be missed by everyone.The family wishes to express special thanks to Tina and everyone at Rosewood Terrace, and the staff at Holy Cross.
She is survived by her husband, Louis Montoya, Salt Lake City; two sons, Perfecto Montoya and wife Ruby, Salt Lake City; Rudy Montoya and wife Jeanette, Albuquerque, N.M.; and five daughters, Fay Ruiz, Doris Butcher, both Salt Lake City; Leola Rodarte, Garden Grove, Calif.; Mrs. Mitch (Rosie) Moore, Socorro, N.M.; Mrs. Lauren (Bernice) DeRosier, Albuquerque, N.M.; two sisters, Rebecca Segura and Natividad Aragon, both Salt Lake City; daughter-in-law, Fela Montoya, Salt Lake City. She is also survived by 33 grandchildren; 75 great-grandchilddren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by three of her children, Tommy, Emma, and Bony.
Funeral mass will be held Monday, October 22, at 10 a.m., at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 715 West 300 North. Rosary services will be held Sunday evening at 7 p.m., at MacKay Deseret Mortuary, 36 East 700 South, where friends may call 6-8 p.m. Sunday. Interment will be at Lake Hills Memorial Park, 10055 South State, Sandy, Utah.
