A K mart pharmacist waived a preliminary hearing Friday in 1st Circuit Court and will go on to stand trial on 20 charges of drug possession, theft and practicing medicine without a license.
Kenneth E. Adams, 41, Brigham City, waived his hearing before 1st Circuit Judge Robert Daines. He was ordered to enter a plea before 1st District Judge Franklin Gunnell on Nov. 5.Adams is charged with eight felonies, including three counts of possession of a controlled substance, two counts of possession or distribution of a controlled substance, two counts of practicing medicine without a license and one count of theft.
He is also facing 12 Class A misdemeanor charges of unlawful possession of a prescription drug.
Adams' pharmacy license was also suspended last week and a revocation hearing has been scheduled for Oct. 23 before the Utah Board of Pharmacy.
The charges were filed following a Brigham City police investigation after one of Adams' co-workers at the pharmacy tipped off police.
Adams remains free from the Box Elder County Jail in lieu of a $20,000 bond.
