Wednesday was not a good day for one Salt Lake County man.
The 26-year-old man was driving near Seventh East and 43rd South when his two front tires fell off."All of the lug nuts spun off and the car came to a screeching halt," said Salt Lake County deputy sheriff Ron Lillie.
The man had just left a local tire store. Lillie said the man heard strange noises, stopped and checked the tires and discovered loose lug nuts. He was driving back to the tire store to have them tightened when the wheels came off.
"I guess it's pretty unusual for both tires to fall off at the same time," said Lillie, who estimated damage to the 1974 Chrysler at $500. He said the car was traveling about 30 mph and slid about 50 feet. The man was treated at St. Marks Hospital for neck injuries and later relelased.
And as if that wasn't painful enough, Lillie had another surprise for the man - a ticket for driving with a revoked driver license.
"I'm sure he'll have a better day today," said Lillie.
