Salt Lake police say they have identified and are still looking for the man they suspect posed as a police officer and then sexually assaulted a woman Monday.
The man apparently stopped at a bus stop near 1300 S. 500 East and began asking a woman directions. He then allegedly told her he was a police officer and displayed a gold shield-type badge in a wallet case."She came over, and he brandished a pistol and told her to get into the car," according to Salt Lake Police Lt. Jim Bell.
The woman told police she got into the back seat, and the man drove away. She said he had a police radio or a scanner in his car. A short time later, the man stopped the car at an apartment and forced her to perform a sex act before taking her home, the woman said.
