Thieves broke through a window at the Community Soup Kitchen and stole 120 pounds of roast beef that was meant to feed lunch to more than 250 poor and homeless people.

"What a nasty, nasty thing," said William A. Sherry, a member of the soup kitchen's board of directors. But the robbers unwittingly left behind a small blessing.

By leaving the soup kitchen's refrigerator open, they thawed 150 pounds of frozen fish sticks that made enough meals to feed lunch to the poor on Tuesday.
