More than 425,000 people visited Temple Square in September, and this year's total number of visitors to the historic site will probably set a record, said Ralph O. Bradley, director of Temple Square.

He said the total to date for 1990 is 3,500,438. By year's end, he said, the number of visitors to the state's top tourist attraction should eclipse the previous record of 4.3 million, which was set last year. The director also announced some other cumulative statistics through September: Mormon Tabernacle Choir Sunday broadcast visitors, 149,852; Tabernacle Choir Thursday rehearsal visitors, 85,466; Tabernacle organ recital visitors, 118,050; and motor-coach tours stopping at Temple Square, 2,156.
