A former Centerville man pleaded not guilty in 2nd District Court this week to three charges that he raped and sexually abused two young girls, with one charge dating back to 1986.

Gary L. Heugly, 46, who now lives in Sandy, pleaded not guilty to two first-degree felonies, rape of a child and aggravated sexual abuse of a child; and a second-degree felony charge of forcible sexual abuse.The two first-degree felonies carry maximum prison terms of five years to life. The child rape charge carries a minimum mandatory prison term of five, 10, or 15 years and the aggravated sexual abuse charge carries a three-, six-, or nine-year minimum mandatory term.
