Three Salt Lake men remained hospitalized Monday with serious injuries they received in separate fights over the weekend.

Two men were stabbed about 5:45 p.m. Saturday at an apartment complex at 213 W. 200 North. Salt Lake police said the men had been at a party at that address earlier, but later returned after one of the men realized his wallet was missing. As the men entered the apartment, a 23-year-old man "lunged through the doorway" and stabbed Herbert Smith, 51, in the stomach and then stabbed Nathaniel Smith, 41, in the liver, a Salt Lake police report stated.

The suspect was subsequently arrested at the apartment. Both victims were taken to LDS Hospital, where they were in fair condition early Tuesday.

In another fight, John DeCoske, 22, was stabbed in the neck and wrist with a pocket knife when he tried to intervene in a fight between two other people in his room at the Aquarius Motel, police said.

When he tried to stop the brawl, one of the participants stabbed him. He was listed in fair condition in LDS Hospital early Tuesday, a nursing supervisor said.
