Herald LaMar Carlston, a former placement director at the University of Utah, died Oct. 14, 1990, following a long illness.
Mr. Carlston, 80, served 39 years as the U.'s placement director.In 1988, Mr. Carlston received the U. Alumni Association's merit honor award for distinguished service. He was a member of the Western College and Rocky Mountain College Placement Associations.
A part-time entrepreneur, he founded the Percentage Finder Co., the Slide Sound Distributing Co. and Career Information Inc. and held four patents.
He was also a lifelong worker for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Oct. 18, at noon, in the Monument Park 1st Ward chapel, 1005 S. 2000 East. Friends may call at the Larkin Mortuary on Wednesday, Oct. 17, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Thursday at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park cemetery.
