The department of chemistry at Brigham Young University will host a nobel laureate as the H. Smith Broadbent Lecturer in Organic Chemistry Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 17-18.

Professor Derek H.R. Barton, winner of the Nobel Prize for Chemistry in 1969, will speak Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Room 321 Wilkinson Center. The title of the lecture is "How to Win a Nobel Prize: A Personal Case History."Barton will speak again Thursday at 3 p.m. in 341 Eyring Science Center on "The Invention of Chemical Reactions."

Professor emeritus at Imperial College in London, Barton serves as distinguished professor at Texas A&M University.
