Cultured marble is a beautiful, versatile, low-cost and durable substitute for natural quarried marble. This product is becoming popular in many areas of interior design, including bathtubs, toilets, vanity tops, wall panels, window sills, baseboards, floor tile and kitchen counters as well as fireplace facing and mantels.

The new synthetic marble is made of a blend of polyester resin, catalysts, pigments and opaque fillers such as crushed marble. The product is coated with clear gel to produce a non-porous, transparent surface that is wear-resistant. Use a soft sponge or cloth and mild detergent and water or a non-abrasive aerosol foam cleaner for routine maintenance. Periodic applications of paste wax will make cleaning easier and will help maintain the luster. Simple scratches and stains can be removed with a mild abrasive such as baking soda or an automotive polishing compound.
